CASTLE regularly organizes interdisciplinary conferences that bring together researchers from all over Germany and around the world in Bonn.

22. 22nd Annual Conference of the German Law and Economics Association (GLEA), 2.-4. July 2025

The 22nd Annual Conference of the German Law and Economics Association took place at the Universitätsclub from July 2 to 4, 2020. Highlights included keynote speeches by Christoph Engel (MPI Bonn) and Nizan G. Packin (Baruch College), as well as the pre-conference workshop on “AI for Legal Research.”

1st ECONtribute WIMLEEH Workshop, 19.–20.06.2023

On June 19 and 20, 2023, the first “ECONtribute Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Law and Economics, and Economic History” took place in Bonn. The aim of the workshop was to bring together female researchers from various fields, facilitate networking, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.

The workshop was jointly organized by JProf. Dr. Svenja Hippel (CASTLE), Dr. Stephanie Ettmeier, Dr. Chi Hyun Kim, and Dr. Cathrin Mohr (all from the MacroFinance & Macrohistory Lab). More information about this event can be found here.

Conference on “Regulation of Algorithms,” September 7–8, 2020

On September 7 and 8, 2020, CASTLE, in collaboration with the Institute for Commercial and Economic Law and the Scientific Association for Regulatory Law, organized the conference “Regulation for Algorithms,” featuring presentations from the fields of law, economics, philosophy, and computer science.

The event was attended by 235 participants from domestic and international institutions, including the European Commission, the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, the Federal Cartel Office, the Federal Network Agency, the Swiss Competition Commission, and numerous universities.

All papers were published in 2021 by Nomos Verlag in a conference proceedings volume.

Fifth ASCOLA Conference “Goals of Competition Law,” May 27–29, 2010

From May 27 to 29, 2010, CASTLE hosted the fifth international conference of the Academic Society for Competition Law (ASCOLA).

Scholars from around the world attended the conference. The papers have been published in the ASCOLA Book Series by Edward Elgar Publishing.
