Comparative private law, particularly German and English property law and secured transactions law
Werdegang
Rebekka is a research assistant at the Institute of International Private Law and Comparative Law at the University of Bonn. She is working on her PhD project under the supervision of Professor Häcker. Her research is on the system of security interests in personal property in German and English law. In her thesis, she aims to compare the structure of different types of interests and to analyse how the line between true security and absolute interests has shifted over time in both jurisdictions.
Rebekka teaches private law classes on the general part of the German Civil Code, which deals with contract formation, rescission, agency and capacity, and on the German law of obligations which encompasses contractual remedies, set-off, assignment as well as rules on different types of contracts.
Rebekka completed her First State Exam in Law at the University of Bonn in 2021 and obtained a Master of Law (1st Class) from the University of Cambridge in 2022. Before embarking on her PhD project, she worked as a legal intern at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome in autumn 2022.
