The Bonn Team has finished in place 6 of 96 in this year's contest. Congratulations!

Jonas Schülting (coach), Antonia Reermann, Aleksandra Shcherbakova, Michelle Ball, Svenja Jeckel, Sophia Fang (coach), Ellen Hofmann

Michelle Ball graduated from Hegel-Gymnasium Stuttgart in 2018. After this, she spent six months working as a volunteer of social services at the Katharinenhospital in Stuttgart where she learned the importance of working in a dynamic and supportive team and to achieve goals together. She was always eager about international politics, diplomacy and creating equality across borders, which is why she decided to enroll in law studies. In April 2019, Michelle commenced her studies at the University of Bonn and has completed her intermediate exam. Over the past year she developed a more profound interest in both civil and criminal law and is therefore looking forward to learning more about international criminal law, gaining practical insights into the methods of law and working with students who share her interest.

Ellen Hofmann is 21 years old and currently studying in her fifth semester. She acquired multicultural experiences living one year abroad in Hawaii during her High School years and spending time in Spain and Chile to improve her Spanish skills after her “Abitur” in 2017. She developed a particular interest in criminal law which was intensified through her internships at the District Court Bonn and an international law firm in the department of economic and tax offences. Besides her academic studies she is an active member and representative for social activities at the Rotaract Club Bonn. She is looking forward to expanding her legal English skills as well as getting to know the field of international criminal law through a “hands-on” and team-oriented approach during the ICC Moot Court Competition.

Svenja Jeckel graduated from Hofenfels-Gymnasium in Zweibrücken in 2016. During her gap year, she not only travelled in numerous countries in Africa and Asia but also did an internship at a NGO in Kenya and took part in the development of strategies to prevent post-election violence. She experienced working in an intercultural environment and learned about aspects of international criminal law. Afterwards, she started studying law at the University of Bonn. She finished her intermediate exams and has done internships at the city administration of Königswinter and at MMA Advocates in Nairobi, Kenya. The latter has enhanced her interest in the practice of law beyond Germany. She is looking forward to working fruitfully with like-minded teammates and gaining practical experience.

Antonia Reermann graduated from Pius Gymnasium Aachen in 2018 and currently studies law in her fourth semester at the University of Bonn. Since November 2019 she has been working as a student assistant at Professor Stuckenberg’s chair. She has a passion for criminal law and has already gained practical experience during her internship at the prosecutor's office in Aachen. Moreover, she is fascinated by foreign legal systems and therefore took complementary courses such as “International Legal English” and “Introduction in Anglo-American Law”. Besides her studies, she coaches a girls soccer team, voluntarily works as tutoress and in a charity that distributes food to homeless persons. She is looking forward to learning more about international criminal law and acquiring practical legal experience during the ICC Moot Court competition.

Aleksandra Shcherbakova is 20 years old and studies law in her fifth semester. She graduated from the bilingual European Gymnasium an der Schweizer Allee in Dortmund. In 2018, she started studying law at the University of Bonn and has now passed the intermediate exam. As well, she already gained Moot Court experience as a member of the Hanse Moot Court Team 2019 which is a moot court dealing with German constitutional law. There, she discovered her enthusiasm for working in a team, writing memorials and especially for pleading. Aleksandra is a longstanding member and vice chairwoman of the scholars’ federal council at the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk (BMBF). She is excited to participate in an international moot court.
