Ömer is a Doctoral Candidate and Scholar of the Bonn-Melbourne Joint PhD Programme at the Institute of International and Comparative Law, University of Bonn, supervised by Professor Birke Häcker and Professor Ying Khai Liew (University of Melbourne). His thesis, provisionally titled Trusts Across the European Civil Law/Common Law Divide: Asset Partitioning in Fiduciary Devices, compares how different jurisdictions structure the separation of assets in fiduciary relationships.

Ömer obtained his LLM in Comparative and European Private Law from the University of Edinburgh in 2025, graduating with Distinction, and his LLB from Galatasaray University in Istanbul in 2023, having also completed an exchange semester at the University of Geneva. Before starting his PhD, he worked as a legal trainee at Akıncı Law Office in Istanbul, focusing on international commercial litigation and arbitration, and was admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association as a lawyer (Avukat) on 11 December 2024.
