Workshops on ‘Public Law’

Experience has shown that many students find it more difficult to get to grips with the law of state organisation than with the other two core subjects of legal theory, which is why we are offering a workshop with a wealth of resources.

Some students struggle in particular with questions such as how to analyse a case under the law of state organisation and how to determine when a particular type of procedure should be used.

With our podcasts and study materials, we aim to make it easier for first-year students to get started with the law of state organisation.

You can find the workshop materials on e-Campus.

Workshop: ‘Effective Learning Strategies and Time Management for Law Students’

Experience shows that many first-year students are overwhelmed by the “new freedom” of university life. The rigid study and time constraints of school suddenly disappear; independent and disciplined work is expected. With the workshop “Effective Learning Strategies and Time Management for Law Students”, we aim to show you ways to organise yourself.

Workshop: ‘Introduction to Academic Writing and Word Processing for Law Students’

Naturally, many students find writing their first academic paper a challenge. There is often considerable uncertainty about how the paper should be structured in terms of both form and content. For this reason, the Academic Advisory Service is offering a podcast on the workshop ‘Introduction to Academic Writing’, which outlines the formal requirements for an academic paper. To complement the workshop, we aim to provide you with this guide as an initial point of reference to help you get started with writing academic papers. We also offer a tutorial on ‘Word Processing for Lawyers’ covering the use of Microsoft Word.

Exam chest

On e-Campus, you will find a selection of particularly well-written sample exams from the foundation stage in our exam archive, which you can use to prepare for your own exams. This includes exam questions and answers provided by students for admission exams and coursework.

Please note: Students subject to the 2023 intermediate examination regulations must sit both admission exams and intermediate exams. There are currently no intermediate exam papers in the exam archive due to changes to the intermediate examination regulations last semester; however, we are working to make these available to you as soon as possible.

Error analysis

The law student advisory service offers you the opportunity to discuss your intermediate examination papers during an individual error analysis session.

To be eligible for this service, you must be sitting one or more of the three core dogmatic subjects for the second or third time, and the lecturer offering the session must have agreed to the discussion. Foundational subjects are not covered.

The individual error analysis is always offered only after the appeal period has expired. If you are interested, please arrange an appointment by email.

Ideally, you should provide the exam paper to be discussed to the Academic Advisory Service one week before the appointment.
