PD Dr. med. Theodor Rüber

PD Dr. med. Theodor Rüber pursued his studies from 2006 to 2015, concurrently enrolling in the medical, philosophical, and Catholic theological programs at the Universities of Bonn (Germany), Boston (MA), and Cali (Colombia). From 2009 to 2011, he pursued his professional advancement under the mentorship of Professor Gottfried Schlaug at the Harvard Medical School. Subsequent to this period of study and development, he was officially recognized as a medical practitioner in 2015.

Subsequent to this, he commenced his residency training in the field of epileptology at the University Hospital Bonn, under the mentorship of Professor Christian Elger. In 2016, he assumed the role of group leader for a newly established research group focused on translational neuroimaging at the same institution. From 2018 to 2022, he served as the head of the CePTER junior scientists' group for Translational Neuroimaging under the supervision of Professor Felix Rosenow at the Department of Neurology at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. In 2020, he was awarded the venia legendi in experimental neurosciences from Professor Rainer Surges at the Bonn University Hospital and Polyclinic for Epileptology. In 2022, he successfully completed the certification process to become a board-certified neurologist. In 2024, he assumed a faculty position at the clinic for diagnostic and intervention neuroradiology and pediatric radiology under the supervision of Professor Alexander Radbruch.

For his research, he has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the NRW Young Scientist Award and, in collaboration with Professor Thomas Schultz, the transdisciplinary Science Award Modelling for Life and Health from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.

Since 2023, Theodor Rüber has concurrently fulfilled the roles of leader of the Translational Neuroimaging working group at the University Hospital Bonn and the manager position of the Centre for Medical Data Usability and Translation.
