Gregor Thüsing, born in Cologne in 1971, has been Director of the Institute for Labour Law and Social Security Law at the University of Bonn since the 2004/2005 winter semester.

Curriculum Vitae
Studied law at the University of Cologne (as a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation), passed the First State Examination in Law in 1994, and subsequently worked as a research assistant at the university’s Institute for Labour and Commercial Law (under Prof. Dr Herbert Wiedemann). PhD in 1995 on a labour law topic (“The Outsider in Industrial Action”, also as a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation).
Second State Examination in Law in 1996; in 1998, awarded an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and admitted as an Attorney at Law in the State of New York after passing the bar exam. In 2000, habilitation in civil law (habilitation thesis: “Discretionary Damages Assessment”) in the subjects of civil law, labour and social law, comparative law and canon law (as a scholarship holder of the DFG and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation).
Subsequently worked as assistant to the CEO in the Corporate Development department of Bertelsmann AG. From 1 April 2001 until the winter semester of 2004/2005, held the Chair of Civil Law, Labour and Social Law and Comparative Law at Bucerius Law School.
