Vita
Laura Münkler was born on September 13, 1985 in Friedberg (Hesse), is married and has two children. She studied law at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 2004 to 2009. She passed her first and second state examinations at the Kammergericht Berlin-Brandenburg in 2009 and 2011. From 2009 to 2012, she worked as a research assistant at the Humboldt University of Berlin and as a guest lecturer at the University of Paris Nanterre. Between 2012 and 2021, she taught and researched as a research assistant and academic advisor at the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich at the Chair of Public Law and Administrative Sciences. In 2014, she completed her doctorate there with the thesis "Kosten-Nutzen-Bewertungen in der gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung" (Cost-Benefit assessments in statutory health-insurance), supervised by Prof. Dr. Jens Kersten. Between 2016 and 2021, she was a member of the Junges Kolleg der Bayerischen Akadamie der Wissenschaft, of which she was deputy spokesperson from 2016 to 2019.
In 2020, she completed her post-doctoral qualification (Habilitation) with the thesis "Expertokratie. Zwischen Herrschaft kraft Wissens und politischem Dezisionismus" at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. After a one-semester substitute position at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, she was offered positions at Bucerius Law School and the University of Greifswald in 2020. This was followed in 2021 by appointments at Goethe-University Frankfurt and Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg. From April 2021 to March 2022, she held the Chair of Public Law, in particular Administrative and Health Law, at the University of Greifswald. From April 2022 to September 2023, she held the Chair of Public Law and Philosophy of Law at the University of Würzburg. Since October 1, 2023, she has held the Chair of Public Law and Philosophy of Law (Schlegel Professorship).
