Lecture ‘Law of Obligations (Contractual Obligations)'

Building on the lecture ‘Law of Obligations - General Part’, which is offered by Prof Dr Kathrin Brei in the first half of the semester, this lecture deals with contractual obligations. Special emphasis is placed on sales law, tenancy law, the law on contracts for work and services and types of contract not regulated by law (in particular leasing contracts). The course concept combines a classic lecture with practice elements, i.e. discussions of exemplary cases.

Lecture ‘Collective Labour Law II’

The lecture deals with employee participation in companies and enterprises. In addition to the regulation of working and economic conditions through collective agreements, the institutionalised participation of employees within companies, enterprises and groups of companies is, to a certain extent, the ‘second pillar’ of collective labour law. The main players here are works councils and supervisory boards. An overview of the system of employee participation is followed by an introduction to corporate co-determination and the law on supervisory boards. However, the focus is on works constitution law. Here, the organisation of the works constitution is first examined, in particular the structure and election procedure of works councils. Finally, the system of participation rights of the works council will be presented in detail.
Time and place of the lecture: Lecture hall B, Thurs. 10-12 c.t.
Recommended reading: Arbeitsgesetze (Beck-Texte im dtv) oder vergleichbare Textausgabe; Preis/Greiner, Arbeitsrecht Bd. 2 – Praxis-Lehrbuch zum Kollektivarbeitsrecht

Lecture ‘Social Law (Basics)’

The lecture provides an overview of social law, focussing in particular on social insurance law. Here, the law of statutory health and long-term care insurance and statutory accident insurance are dealt with in depth as examples and general problem structures are shown.
Place and time of the event: Lecture theatre B. Thurs. 14-16 h c.t., weekly
