Sponsoring the Team

Support the Bonn Jessup Team!

Hello and thank you for your interest in our team and the Jessup Competition!

Like most moot court competitions, the Jessup competition is comprised of written memorials and oral pleadings. Around 20 teams from all over Germany compete at the German National Rounds in Februrary to earn the German title and one of two spots to compete in the International Rounds in Washington, D.C.

The University of Bonn has been competing since 2012 and has steadily improved. After a disappointing last place finish in 2012, the Bonn team moved up to place 12 in 2013, and in 2014, 2015, and 2016 the team qualified for the German quarter finals (8th, 5th and 6th place respectively). In addition, in 2016 the team won the runner-up prize for best memorials. We're hoping the 2017 team will finally make it to Washington!

To be successful, we need your help

There are two ways to support us: 1) by judging practice pleadings at your office (or in the Institute's library) and/or 2) by becoming a team sponsor.

Practice pleadings are held in January and February and last approximately two hours. Practice round judges listen to our arguments, test our knowledge of the case, and provide valuable feedback. Unlike several other moot court competitions, the Jessup does not allow practice pleadings between different teams.

The financial support of the University and of our generous sponsors makes it possible to compete. We hope you will consider a general donation to the team or sponsoring a specific component, for example:

50€             Lunch for the team at the National Rounds

100€           Dinner for the team at the National Rounds

150€           Printing costs for the memorials

200€           Hotel costs for one team member

350€           Travel costs for the team

2000€         All hotel expenses for the National Rounds

Team sponsors will be mentioned on the Institute's website and thanked during our public 'send-off' practice pleading.

We look forward to the opportunity to get to know you and to improve thanks to your feedback and support.
