Dr. Alisa Jones

Dr. Alisa Jones joined the Institute of Public International Law in April 2024. She graduated from the Universities of London (MA) and Leeds (BA, PhD) in East Asian Studies, specialising in Chinese history and politics, and has a particular interest in often conflicting legal, cultural and historical definitions of national peoples and territories and their consequences for international relations. She has worked at universities and research institutes in the USA, East Asia and Europe, most recently at the University of Tübingen's China Centrum where she was the institute's manager for research development, as well as for events and communications. She is also a qualified TESOL instructor and has many years of experience editing academic manuscripts and coaching students from undergraduate to PhD level in academic writing. At the institute, she serves as assistant editor of GPIL and teaches writing on the transdisciplinary Schreibwerkstatt programme.
