Key Skills

The department offers its students various block courses for the acquisition of key qualifications which, in accordance with Section 7 (2) of the North Rhine-Westphalia Lawyers' Training Act (JAG NRW), take into account judicial, administrative and legal advisory practice.
In our courses, you will learn in small groups, for example, what is important for good rhetoric and presentation and what role the correct use of your voice plays in this. Depending on your personal interests, you will also deal with the basics of interrogation theory, mediation or negotiation management.
You will receive certificates of attendance for participating in our weekend seminars. Although these are not compulsory for admission to the first state examination in law, they can be attached to your application.

How do I register for the key skills course?

You can register for the key skills courses via Basis. The courses are always activated for registration on Basis three to four weeks before the course date. You can become aware of the activation through our advertising posters in the Juridicum as well as the post and story publication on the Instagram page of the Faculty of Law.
Lecturers and course participants use eCampus to make contact and provide course materials. On eCampus, you can also participate in the evaluation of the course after the end of the event.
