First semester / first-year students

Eine gelungene Studieneingangsphase ist der Grundstein für ein erfolgreiches Jurastudium!

A successful introductory phase is the foundation for a successful law degree programme!

  • To make it easier for our ‘newcomers’ to start studying law, we offer first-semester workshops before the official start of the semester as part of the ‘RechtAnschaulich’ orientation phase. The aim of the introductory events is to clarify the legal structures, to train the handling of the law and to qualify the basic understanding of the dogmatic core subjects. The aim is to impart initial skills in legal working methods and methodology in the respective core subject.
  • You can find a lot of other important information about starting your studies on the homepage of the Student Advisory Service. In addition, the degree programme brochure provides an overview of the law degree programme at the University of Bonn.
  • Which lectures and study groups will you be attending in your first semester? Get an overview in our recommended study programme!

The recommended curriculum (Appendix I of the study regulations) and the lecture planning are based on starting the programme in the winter semester. Please note, therefore, that individual courses in the basic study programme (e.g. Fundamentals of Commercial Law and Fundamentals of Company Law) are only offered on a regular basis in the winter or summer semester. You can find the suggested study plan for beginning your studies in the summer semester on page 8 of the above document "Recommended study plan" and from page 13 of the official announcement of the study regulations!

  • You will soon find the current study guide for all semesters here.
